Rob Fitton - directing a swan song
Hello I’m Rob Fitton.
Welcome to the first production of the new season. This is my 46th year in amateur theatre and during this time I have met hundreds of the nicest people you could wish to meet.
I was a relatively late starter in the amateur dramatics. My first production whilst in my late twenties was joining the cast of The King & I playing seven (7) parts (including a mountain and a river) without speaking a word.
However I was immediately bitten by the bug and joined three other drama groups within the year, I met my wife at the Curtain Theatre in Rochdale and married her two years after casting her as a hooker in Neil Simon’s California Suite. I have enjoyed both playing and directing at most of the local theatre groups over the years, and have played or directed in over 300 shows from musicals to dramas, comedy & farce.
I have now decided that this will be my swan song and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I have enjoyed directing it.
I played the part of Harold in this play forty years ago and it has always been a favourite of mine. This play has comedy, drama and pathos. Why don’t you come and join this group of players I promise you won’t regret it.
