The view from a drama student

Hi, I'm Emma Sykes and I've played Meg in our performance of The Cracked Pot and I'm studying A level drama at Oldham Hulme Grammar.

I have been involved in two other plays here before, the first one being All In Good Time and the other, A Passionate Woman but this is the first time I have had an acting role and there's one word for it – amazing!

Even though I've only had a small part, I have learnt so much from the other members of the cast, they are all so talented and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps! Being the youngest, it definitely was daunting going into it especially with this being the first time I had performed outside of school and sixth form but it has been an experience that has made me realise just how much I love theatre, yes juggling A-level work and rehearsals has been tricky but definitely worth it!

The theatre and the people at Delph are wonderful and I would recommend to anyone who is looking for acting roles, experience with tech, costume, set or anything related to theatre life to get in touch because it is a decision you won't regret! Becoming part of the Saddlewoth Players has given me such a confidence boost with both my social and practical skills and I love every minute of the time I spend there!
