Lighting up the MAC
Millgate Arts Centre staff are currently in the process of upgrading much of the lighting in the bar, foyer and other areas to LED technology. LED’s have revolutionised lighting in recent years using a fraction of the energy and giving very long lamp life. The work is intended to reduce the centre’s carbon footprint, reduce energy consumption and reduce maintenance.
The upgrade follows installation of a micro-generation system two years ago which involved the fitting of a solar array on the main roof. The solar system was funded with grant assistance and allows us to sell surplus power generated in the daytime back to the grid.
We continue to look at more ways to save energy and help protect the environment.
