Charity night remembers Greg Sherrington

Playhouse 2 in Shaw will be remembering Greg Sherrington – a regular at Saddleworth Players as well as numerous other local theatres – with their forthcoming production of Two, by Jim Cartwright.

Greg was a regular in the Pace Egg, performed as a street play every Easter, which raised money for Springhill Hospice in Rochdale. After his recent death, it was decided to dedicate the charity night of the show to fundraising for the hospice, in his memory. The charity night is on April 13th. Two is a wonderfully funny and moving play by Jim Cartwright. In a typical North West local pub, the warring landlord and landlady carry out a battle of vitriol and bile whilst serving pints of mild and bitter to a constant stream of eccentric customers … very, very funny yet untimately sad.

And as an actor in the Pace Egg (which will be performed at Littleborough Coach House and the Pack Horse Inn in Birtle this Easter), I could not let a charity event of this nature pass without asking "What's a hospice?" … "About three gallons."
